Beauty Tip: How To Clean Your Makeup Brushes

We as women are always spring cleaning our bedrooms, closets and make-up collections – out with the old and in with the new! But we often fail to do one of the most important things.. clean our make-up brushes. Make-Up brushes gather dust, dirt, make-up, oils, and bacteria over time which can lead to break-outs. Cleaning your brushes should be part of your beauty routine. Ideally your brushes should be cleaned once a week or minimum once a month if you cannot find the time. You do not need any fancy chemicals or shampoos to clean your brushes so here are our very easy tips!

Tools you’ll need:

Your basin or sink

Gentle Hair Shampoo

A cloth

What to do:

Step 1: Wet your brushes by running cold water over it or to save water fill the sink with a bit of water and wet your brushes ( drain the water out afterwards). Ensure brushes are facing downwards when doing so and are thoroughly wet.

Step 2: Lather the bristles with shampoo. Add a bit more shampoo and massage thoroughly.

Step 3: Rinse your brushes until water runs clear. Squeeze bristles gently to ensure no excess water.

Step 4: Pat your brushes very lightly with a cloth.

Step 5: Lay your brushes out to dry for a few hours.

Voilà! There you have clean make-up brushes! This process should be done at the end of the day or when you are done using them to give them time to dry. Cleaning your brushes should not take longer than 10 minutes (depending how meticulous) you are :).

Happy Cleaning!
